Our story

Precision of the ages. Modern lasers, timeless standards.

A multi-laser studio in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, making small-batch, considered pieces for hotels, golf clubs, jewellers and design-led businesses across Ireland.

In the shadow of Newgrange

Built where alignment was the first art.

Boyne Valley Laser Studio is built in the shadow of one of Ireland's most precise pieces of engineering: Newgrange. Over 5,000 years before CNC machines or CAD files, its builders aligned a narrow passage and roof-box so that, on mornings around the winter solstice, the rising sun reaches the inner chamber for a brief window. When the sky is clear, that light can last up to around seventeen minutes.

From our studio in Dunshaughlin, close to the Boyne Valley, a landscape of passage tombs, kings and river crossings, we approach modern laser work with the same respect for alignment, light and detail. This place is a reminder that when something is made with care, it outlives the people who built it.

The founder

Shane Griffin — founder & lead engraver.

Shane founded Boyne Valley Laser Studio to bring the same patience and respect for alignment that Newgrange demands into modern small-batch engraving. Every quote, every demo, every commissioned piece passes through his hands — there is no anonymous production line behind the work. As the lead operator of Ireland's official xTool Squad Service Station, Shane runs the studio's lasers across CO₂, fibre MOPA and UV every day, and shares what he learns with businesses, makers, and community groups across Ireland.

Shane was super helpful and went through a lot of features. I came away with a much better understanding and reassurance. Thanks Shane!

What we make

Specialist laser capability under one roof. Made in conversation.

We run a multi-laser setup across CO₂, fibre MOPA (with diode) and UV, and use it to do one thing well: create small-batch pieces for hotels, golf clubs, jewellers and design-led businesses that feel considered, not mass-produced. Sometimes that is a clean set of branded keyrings. Other times it is a captains' prize or guest gift with a story card, local materials and a quiet nod to Irish heritage. In every case, the end result is shaped in conversation with you, not lifted from a catalogue.

Bespoke design

More than a laser. A way of making something stand out.

Our expertise goes beyond simply engraving or cutting whatever file you send us. We work with clients to design bespoke gifts, awards and keepsakes from the ground up, bringing Irish heritage, place and storytelling into pieces when it fits. We understand what makes an object feel special and worth keeping, rather than generic or interchangeable. If you have a brief in mind, even a rough one, talk to us early and we'll help shape it.

Sister brand

Amelia Lily — Irish-inspired keepsakes.

Alongside the studio, we also run Amelia Lily, a separate gift brand focused on Irish-inspired keepsakes and seasonal pieces. For certain hotel, resort and corporate projects, it makes sense for guests to receive an Amelia Lily product designed specifically for that venue, while the technical production is carried out here in the laser studio.

How we work

You speak to the person who runs your job.

Whether you are a local business ordering branded keyrings or a five-star resort planning awards and guest gifts, you speak directly with the person who will set up and run your job. No call centres, no anonymous upload portals. Just straightforward communication and carefully produced work.

Community & craft

Precision shared with the place that surrounds us.

While our studio relies on cutting-edge laser technology, our roots and values are deeply embedded in the Boyne Valley community. Craftsmanship is about connection. We regularly dedicate studio time to local pro-bono projects, travelling out to scout groups, men's sheds, schools and community groups to run hands-on laser workshops, and designing logos and engraving custom hardware where it's needed. It is our way of ensuring the precision we bring to luxury hotels and corporate brands is also shared with the community around us.
